1. Sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore administers Khelo India pledge in Delhi



Delhi came together to pledge its support to Khelo India School Games at the Central Park in Connaught Place in Delhi.
The objective of Khelo India, which is driven by the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, is aimed at ushering a sports culture in the country. It's more than just winning or losing. Every year we will be taking in 1000 youngsters under the Khelo India programme and provide them with support to the tune of Rs. 5 lakh for the next eight year

2. India, Seychelles Sign Revised Pact on Assumption island to Allay Local Fears


India and Seychelles signed a revised agreement that will allow India to build military infrastructure on Assumption Island, that will expand its strategic reach in the Indian Ocean.
The ‘Agreement between India and Seychelles for the Development, Management, Operation and Maintenance of Facilities on Assumption island’ was signed in Victoria.The agreement will be valid for 20 years, after which it can be renewed for periods of 10 years at a time. The notice period for terminating the agreement is one year.

3.  Aadhaar Oxford Dictionary's Hindi Word 2017



The announcement was made at a session "Oxford Dictionaries' Hindi Word of the Year" during the ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Other words such as 'Mitron', 'Notebandi', 'Gau-Rakshak' were also considered, but the widespread discussions and debates around 'Aadhaar' was reason it was selected as the word of the year.

4. India retain International Cricket Council(ICC) mace(गदा) in Test Cricket



India hold off South African challenge to retain the ICC Test Championship mace with victory at Johannesburg.India have retained the ICC Test Championship mace and have also won an award of $1 million after their victory in the Johannesburg Test ensured that South Africa cannot move ahead of them in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Team Rankings at the 3 April cut-off date, even if they go on to win all four Tests against Australia in March.

5. MeITY(Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology) launches Stree Swabhiman Initiative for Women Health and Hygiene.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeITY) has launched Stree Swabhiman Initiative. Its aim is to create sustainable model for providing adolescent girls and women an access to affordable sanitary products by leveraging Common Service Centres (CSCs).
In a move to extend more banking and insurance schemes in rural areas, the ministry of electronics (MeitY) has allowed 2.70 lakh common service centres (CSCs) to partner with top banks and insurance companies such as HDFC and LIC. The development was announced by IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Noted agricultural scientist Gurcharan Singh Kalkat, who was known for his role in bringing Green Revolution to Punjabpassed away in Chandigarh  after a brief illness.

8. President Ram Nath Kovind launched the Pulse Polio programme for 2018.

President Ram Nath Kovind, launched the Pulse Polio Immunisation (PPI) programme for 2018 by administering polio drops to children less than five years old at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The event was organised on the eve of the National Immunisation Day, which is observed on 28 January. More than 17 crore children of less than five years across the country will be given polio drops as part of the government’s drive to eradicate polio from the country.

9. Swizz Tennis Player Roger Federer wins sixth Australian Open(106th edition) and 20th Grand Slam title



Swizz Tennis Player Roger Federer won his sixth Australian Open and 20th Grand Slam title with a five-set victory over Marin Cilic(Croatia). The Swiss lost five games in a row as he dropped the fourth set but recovered to win 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 3-6 6-1.

12. PM Modi to visit Palestine, UAE and Oman in February 9 to 12

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make a historic visit to Palestine during a trip to the Middle East from February 9 to 12 that will take him to the UAE and Oman.


This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Palestine and Modi's second visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after August 2015.

13. Sandeep Lamichhane(Delhi Daredevils) becomes first Nepal player to get IPL contract.

Sandeep Lamichhane became the first cricketer from Nepal to land an IPL contract on Sunday when he was picked by Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing players auction in Bengaluru.
The leg-spinner rose to prominence with a successful outing at the 2016 U-19 World Cup where he guided Nepal to a creditable eighth place.
